I recently received a bunch of leftover quilt blocks from a friend in our quilting group. They were quite lovely, but very different in size, shapes and style. I like the challenge of taking odd blocks and leftover projects and make something out of them. It is a very rewarding experience, one that I enjoy more and more, as it provides next to instant gratification.
When I was visiting my quilting friend Page last week, I brought all those odd blocks with me and turned them into 4 very different quilt tops that you can see below. They are all going to our local Linus Project--our quilt guild charity. Enjoy!

Hello again!
It's been a long time since my last post, but a lot has happened since September 2012. For starters, right after my beautiful Opus-boy passed away, we got ready for the move from Georgia to North Carolina. Finally landed in beautiful Western NC last November.

| Welcome to Black Mountain |
Not a lot time left for quilting during those first months, considering the holidays came right at the heels of the move.
I'm happily settled in now, having joined the local quilt guild (http://www.ashevillequiltguild.org/) and a couple of quilting groups around town as well. I also was able to create my own quilting space in our very small cottage--having downsized after leaving GA--where I've been busy sewing (another reason for not having been actively posting, since I find it difficult to choose between sewing and "computing."). However, I've managed to get a few projects finished, some of which are being sold at Marshall Arts, my daughter's arts & crafts business (http://marshallcommunityarts.wordpress.com/), which sets up each Tuesday and Thursday at Earth Fare, Asheville's organic supermarket (https://www.earthfare.com/), and Saturdays & Sundays in Hot Springs, NC.
If you happen to be in the neighborhood, you should stop by. In addition to my quilts, they have very lovely works of art and crafts made from local materials, as well as beautiful photographs taken in and around Appalachia.
See you at the next post.

My Foodie Pen Pal
I apologize, I apologize, I apologize!
I should have written this blog four days ago, but my attention was consumed with caring for my terminally ill kitty, who sadly passed away yesterday. My heart is constricted as I write this and try to get on with life. I know the loss of a pet may not seem very critical or important to some, particularly those who don't have pets, or who consider animals in general an inferior species unworthy of emotional attachments. But my Opus was very much part of our family, he was my "baby." We had a special connection, and his loss is being felt very deeply. Please forgive me. This should be about the food.
So I'll write about the food. I received a very nice box from my foodie pal last month. She hit the nail right on the head, by sending some of my favorite foods, such as coffee and honey. In fact, I had put both items on my shopping list just that morning. Happily, they're off the list thanks to my pal Corrina.
Here is an illustration of the box contents.

Thanks for the goodies!
