Rear Window

I've been busy working on a few projects that I'm trying to get submitted into different shows, hence my failure to submit my usual weekly post.

One of these projects is a quilt I have wanted to make for a very long time, inspired by a poster that captured my attention for its wonderful composition, color, and also because of the subject it represents. The poster was designed by a British graphic designer by the name of James Joyce (don't know if there is any relation to the famous Irish writer). It depicts one of my most favorite movies of all times, Alfred Hitchcock's "Rear Window."

I thought this would make a wonderful modern style quilt, so I decided to copy it in fabric.

I am very pleased with the results, particularly since I had to improvise the entire thing, as obviously there was no pattern to follow, only the picture.

My rendition

Presently, I am awaiting authorization from the designer, Mr. Joyce, to exhibit it and perhaps to submit it at the upcoming Modern Quilt Guild show--Quiltcon--in Savannah next February. I'm praying he will respond to my plea.☺
